End of last week Directorate General for Research and Innovation launched the save the date**** for its inaugural annual flagship event - the European Research and Innovation Days on 24, 25 and 26 September 2019 which will take place in KANAL - Centre Pompidou, Brussels, located on Quai des Péniches.

At the heart of the first European R&I Days will be co-creation and engagement with stakeholders to help build the strategic priorities for the first four years of implementing the EU’s next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon Europe (2021-2027).

Speakers will include ministers, commissioners, members of European Parliament, high-level policy-makers, corporate decision-makers, technology movers and shakers, EU-funded researchers, and pioneering thinkers and potential investors in EU-funded projects.

The event has three distinct strands, offering something for everyone:

• The Policy Conference (24, 25, 26 September) will convene world leaders, industry, finance, academia, the entrepreneurial community to debate and shape the future R&I landscape in vital areas of science, engineering, medicine, and wider social and environmental concerns. This conference will also provide an important opportunity for key stakeholders to input ideas into the overall strategic planning for the future Horizon Europe – the European Commission's proposal for the next EU research & innovation programme (2021-2027) Target audience: High-level policy-makers, corporate decision-makers, technology movers, makers and shakers, scientists, innovators, and pioneering thinkers.

• The 'Innovative Europe' Hub (24, 25, 26 September) for research and innovation stakeholders offering an unparalleled meeting place and exhibition space for inventors, investors, entrepreneurs and the whole range of services, businesses, civil society organisations, agencies and intermediaries that make European SciTech so dynamic. There will be brokerage places, participatory and cooperative sessions, pitch sessions and/or labs. Target audience: Investors/venture capitalists, inventors/innovators, intermediaries, entrepreneurs, high-tech world.

• The ‘Science is Wonderful’ Exhibition (25, 26 September) will display projects by Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows and other EU-funded research and innovation projects that have an impact on citizens’ daily lives. There will be demos, stands, pavilions, and interactive elements showing the importance of research and innovation as part of our daily life. Target audience: Citizens, anyone in the wider community with a passion for science, research and innovation!
