ESA Annual Meeting 2018

Presentation of BRESOV by Prof. Ferdinando Branca

The BRESOV coordinator Prof. Ferdinando Branca (University of Catania) presented the project at the ESA Annual Meeting 2018 which was organised from October 7-9, 2018 in Madrid, Spain.

The European Seed Assiciation (ESA) as a Europe-wide organisation representing the seed sector and the interests of those active in research, breeding, production and marketing of seeds, is one of the partners involved in BRESOV. Within the BRESOV project ESA is mainly involved in communication and dissemination activities and will define the varieties to use, the traits to evaluate, and the parameters to study for the three crops studied within the project, namely bean, brassica and tomato.

During the ESA Annual Meeting 2018 Prof. Ferdinando Branca presented the BRESOV project, its objectives and approach in the frame of a working group session on vegetables. The presentation had a very broad appeal and the participants showed great interest towards the project.

With an attendance of 1050 participants from over 40 countries across the world, the importance of the ESA Congress for the European and international seed sector was once more confirmed. During the meetings of the specific crop sections, participants got the latest updates and detailed information on many horizontal and crop-specific issues important for seed companies in Europe and worldwide such as the Common Agricultural Policy, the EU seed fraud network, new EU Plant Health rules, Research and Innovation, and Intellectual Property.

The ESA Annual Meeting 2019 will take place in Stockholm (Sweden) from October 13-15, 2019.
