University of Tunis El Manar

Tunesia

The University of Tunis El Manar (UTM) is a public administrative institution created in 1987 and is organised in many faculties including the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis (FST). The Laboratory of molecular genetics, immunology and biotechnology located in the FST was created in 1999. The general theme developed by the laboratory is part of the study of plants and environment interactions. It has integrated 3 themes: forage genetic resources, fruit genetic resources and plant / pathogen interactions. The main objectives are to characterize and to evaluate the genetic diversity of the local cultivated and spontaneous resources and their pathogens through phenotypic labeling and molecular typing. At the applied level, our work is integrated on the one hand in the demonstration of molecular markers correlated with agronomic traits to assist the selection and creation varietal, and on the other hand, in the implementation of effective control strategies through the development of reliable diagnostic kits of pathogens as well as the creation of plants resistant / tolerant both to pathogens and abiotic stresses.

Role of University of Tunis El Manar in BRESOV

In BRESOV, UTM will be involved in the activities of WP2 and WP3, mainly working on Brassica. UTM will also contribute to communication and dissemination activities.
