The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), located in Vila Real, is a high-level institution, dedicated to the creation, transmission and diffusion of culture, knowledge and science. Located in a developing region, it promotes entrepreneurship in a close relationship with the community, its bodies, institutions and the world of business, deepens scientific knowledge, develops technology and seeks to respond to global, national and regional problems.
UTAD includes five teaching units, research and extension, including the School of Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences (ECVA). This School's mission is necessary to value the work of their teachers, researchers and non-teaching staff and non-research, stimulate intellectual and professional training of their students and creating, using and disseminating knowledge and technology in the area of Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences, having the principal human development, and qualification of the people it serves.
