Beijing Vegetable Research Center (BVRC) of Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (BAAFS) was founded in 1958. It was officially entitled as The National Engineering Research Center for Vegetables by the China Ministry of Science and Technology in 1995. The Center is located in Beijing. The research targets focus on the forefront of vegetable science and technology worldwide and provide comprehensive scientific and technical support to ensure efficient and sustainable development of the vegetable industry in China. The Center has developed bilateral and international cooperation in science and technology with the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan and more than 10 other countries. Moreover, sponsored by the Chinese Government, the Center has continually conducted international training courses on vegetable science in more than 40 developing countries in recent decades and accumulatively trained more than 800 foreign managerial technicalists in vegetable science and technology.
In BRESOV, BVRC will carry out screening of the breeding lines resistant to diseases, breeding new F1 hybrids and will be involved in on-farm evaluation activities.
